It gets away from you

Apr 19, 2016

Wow, it really has been a long time since I’ve been on here. Life really has a way of distracting and letting the little things get away from you. With the best of intentions I would like to keep up with this again, but I know I’m not very good at following through. A girl can dream.

Since last I wrote life has changed a lot. We added a bitty boy, M, to our family. We adore him. He’s my baby growly bear, but he’s almost a year old already,  believe it or not. L is the best big sister you could ask for, and he admires her every move. Which is probably why he’s already walking (and climbing) everywhere. I can’t keep this busy boy down. It makes for an interesting and exhausting life right now.

We bought our first house last year. Finally, no more renting! L got to decorate her own room, purple for my girly princess. And I got to really decorate a nursery (whales). We found an awesome preschool for L. She loves it, and she’s learning so much. She has all the attitude that comes from being 4, and all the intelligence to keep it interesting.

K got a new job recently, and I dropped to part time. I still love what I do but I also love being mommy while the kids are still little. I may work less, but I don’t feel any less busy. I hope that eventually, when M is a bit older, I will have some time to myself to start digging into the things I’ve been wanting to learn, and really take advantage of fewer work hours to do some personal projects. At least for now I’m still working, which means I get to talk to adults regularly and I still feel productive. And I’m not losing my skills, which is important to me.

I’ll leave it at that for now. Hopefully I will be on here more often. I’ve let a lot of me things slide in the last year, and it’s time to get some of it back.

It’s Me Again!

Apr 26, 2014

I know, it’s been a long time. So much for keeping up on this. Oh well.

The good news is, everything has been going really well! I love my job, I love my family, I love that its getting warmer outside. I’m so ready for some good weather and getting outside again.

I’m learning a lot, and at the same time I still get to work with WordPress. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to actually expand my skills now. After wading through all the new things, it’s a relief to get back to something I really know, and since I worked with WordPress for 3 years, it’s kind of like coming home. It’s such a nice combination.

And to top it all off, I finally get to go on a real vacation this summer. This will be the first real time off I’ve taken since Lucca was born (two years ago btw, holy cow!). And I only took two weeks off for that. We’re headed to California this summer, spend some time on the beach, and see some family. My oldest brother is getting back from deployment shortly before that, so it will be nice to celebrate him being home and Lucca will finally get to meet another of her uncles for the first time, which I am really stoked about, and various cousins as well. She’s never been to the beach either. It’s going to be a blast.

I have been taking pictures, even though I have been slacking on the blog…so many pictures. Let’s see what I’ve got.

All of the Things

Feb 09, 2014

Ok, I know I’ve been slacking on the posts lately. I’m taking my pictures but I’ve been busy and distracted so I haven’t sat down to go through them and actually make a post. I will though… sometime… soonish.

This last week has been particularly crazy with ending my old job and starting the new on on Thursday. Super exciting but draining too. So far I’m really liking the new one. But it is a little tough leaving my little one. Luckily I have a wonderful mother who came to ease the transition for me, and watch Lucca for the first few days.

So there’s my update. I am a truly thankful girl right now, just also a busy distracted one.

Big Changes! Oh and More Pictures

Jan 26, 2014

It’s funny how much your life can change in less than a week. Looks like I am moving on and up in my career. I got a great job offer this last week. I’ll be sad to leave behind my coworkers, but I’m excited for the new opportunity! I can’t wait to get in and get to work. I’m going to be learning so much, and being the nerd that I am, I’m stoked. I just wish I could start sooner, but I have to do what I have to do and wrap up loose ends for my old job. Yay for the future!

So it’s been a week since my last post, lets see if I can sort all my pictures out.

Day 20 – Daughter again, but come on! She’s adorable.

How did it take me so long? Favicons

Jan 19, 2014

So, it’s been an annoyance to me for a long time that whenever I need to change a favicon for a site the old one is cached in the browser for a long time.

Enter this helpful little tip: just add ?v=2 to the end of the image file and the browser will update it immediately. Tiny victories!

(I’m a little sad to say it took me this long to track down the solution, but I guess I’ll just chalk it up to being busy…all the time?)

Adventures and Nerdness

Jan 19, 2014

I feel like I’ve been geeky this week – don’t judge (unless your judgement = love).

One of those days

Jan 15, 2014

Had some trouble coming up with things to be thankful for today. So of course it will be the Lucca again. She can make me smile any day (even if she has been part of the problem with her trouble making toddler ways).

Day 15 – dancing monkey jammies for my dancing monkey (have I mentioned she loves monkeys?).
